New to GFW?
If you are a new resident of the GFW School District and the parent of a preschooler(s) -Ages 0-5 years- please call the GFW Elementary School office to register your child on the school census. (507-207-2236) The number count is important for district planning and it will assure you receive school mailings pertinent to your young child. Thank you.
ECFE classes are held at the ECFE Center located at GFW Elementary School in Gibbon. Classes meet mornings and evenings.

ECFE Classes
Infant Class
Learn about your child’s development while you and your child experience many new and fun activities. Topics of importance to parents will be discussed during the last half hour. Parents do not separate from their children during this time. Expectant parents are also welcome to attend.
For children birth to 12 months
Class dates: Mondays, April 1, 8 and 15
Time: Mondays 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Fee: $15

Toddler Class
This age is filled with a driven sense of wonder and discovery. They are fascinated as they explore their world. They are learning to talk, to think for themselves, and to act independently. Come share with other parents ways to help your mover and shaker deal with frustrations, learn to share, and build self esteem. Parents remain in the room for their discussions.
For children ages 1-2 years
Class starts: Tuesday, February 27, 2024
Time: Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Fee: $25.00
Location: Community Ed/ECFE Room GFW Elementary School, Gibbon.
This class runs for 6 weeks
Preschool ECFE Class
More social than ever, young children want to be busy learning about the world they live in. Take an active part in your child’s learning experiences during parent-child activity time. Parent discussions are the last 40 mins of class.
For children ages 2-5 years.
Class starts Tuesday, February 27, 2024
Time: Tuesdays 6:30-7:45 p.m.
Cost: $35.00 Scholarships available
Location: GFW Elementary School, Gibbon. Community Ed/ECFE Room
This class runs for 8 weeks
Special Events:
Dad and Me Class
A Dad and Me class for children ages 2-5 years and their Dads (or special friend or grandpa) will be offered Thursday, January 18th. This class is geared especially for dads or that someone special to come and enjoy an evening of fun filled activities with their child(ren). Dad's discussion group follows the children’s activities. Dad’s will then take home a take and make a project to do at home with their child/children.
Pre-registration is required for this class.
Cost is $20 per child. Discounts available for additional children in the family.
Please prepay this fee to confirm your class registration.
Each child will also take home a free book the night of class.

Time: 6:00-7:30 p.m.

ECFE Family Bowling
Code 3 in Gibbon will host an ECFE Family Bowling Night. Please join other families with preschool age children for a night of bowling fun with prizes. Bumper pads will be in place for the younger bowlers.
Food will be available for purchase.
Date: Friday, February 23
Time: 5:00-7:00 p.m. - come and go
Location: Code 3 Bowling in Gibbon
Cost: $8.00 per person: includes 2 games and shoe rental

Family Gym Night
Have children who need to run off extra energy? Family Gym Night lets kids climb, jump, play ball and lots more.

ECFE Vehicle Fair
GFW ECFE is revving up the fun with our annual Vehicle Fair! This event is for families with children ages 0-5 years and their families. This will be a fun opportunity for children to explore a variety of vehicles and actually get up close and experience the feel and sounds of them. There will be many vehicles to explore, so join in the fun!
Register for door prizes!
Food will be available for purchase, so plan to enjoy supper at the fair!

Carlson’s Llovable Llamas
Come and enjoy time at Carlson’s Llovable Llamas with us! We will get a tour of the farm, we will play in the pen with the baby llamas, trail walk with your own llama and brush and help feed the llamas. What a fun day!

Bus leaves Fairfax @ 9:00 a.m.
Gibbon @ 9:15 a.m.
Winthrop @ 9:30 a.m.
Cost: $14/child $5/adult
Pack a lunch and we will eat at the farm!
Registration is required by Wednesday, April 24.
We will leave the farm at 12:45 and be back to Winthrop by 1:30 p.m., Gibbon 1:45 p.m. and Fairfax 2:00 p.m.
