
ECFE Trip: Come and enjoy time at Carlson’s Llovable Llamas with us! We will get a tour of the farm, we will play in the pen with the baby llamas, trail walk with your own llama and brush and help feed the llamas. What a fun day!

Well we teach you how to make all of these items in this class. You will be able to have samples in class and go home with recipes.

Nancy Guggisberg, a local artist, will come with the needed supplies for participants to paint their own floral “Van Gogh likeness” with step by step instructions on how to do so.



Students in first grade had been preparing for the eclipse in STEAM class. While it was too cloudy to see it outside they watched the live stream instead. They also created a model of the eclipse, using their head as the earth, a marble as the moon, and the classroom clock as the sun!

Over the weekend, some of our students who are members of Sibley County 4H participated in the Minnesota State 4H Project Bowl which tests their knowledge on different species of animals. There were four teams that competed in the General Livestock division and all four teams were extremely successful! Two teams took home champion plaques and two teams placed third for the state. Congratulations!




Students at GFW Elementary had an amazing time watching the parade of tractors last week!




If you heard a rumble around town today, you may know that students drove their tractors to school to celebrate Ag Day!

Fourth graders were learning about Pangea, which happens to be a topic that Ian in second grade is very passionate about. He has been fascinated with Pangea and has done a lot of research which he put into a PowerPoint to share with the class. He did a great job and it was a wonderful way to make learning fun!

Let's celebrate GFW Elementary student Adler Kent! Adler wrestlers for rolling thunder out of New Ulm at the 72 lb weight class. He has a record this year of 65-7, with 37 pins.
Last weekend was regional qualifiers, where over 100 of the states best 3rd and 4th graders at his weight class wrestle for 1 of 16 spots to go to state. Adler secured his spot last weekend to go to state by placing 3rd in his region. He will be wrestling state in Rochester and is considered one of the top 16, 3rd and 4th grade wrestlers at 72 lbs in the state. Way to go Adler!


Sibley County Deputy Eric Johnson and his canine partner Otis were the special guests at the T-Bird way assembly. We honored police officers as our real life heroes! Pictured with him is Adler Kent. He is going to state in wrestling, and we also recognized his accomplishments at our T-Bird way assembly.


A huge congratulations to GFW seniors Marti Jacobson and Sam Berkner for being honored with the Triple A Award! The Academics, Arts, and Athletics award honors high school seniors throughout the state who have a 3.0 or higher GPA and who participate in league-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Award recipients are selected through a multi-level process involving member schools of the league, the league's administrative regions, and a special committee of educators, business leaders, and members from the fine arts and athletic communities.
We're proud of you Sam and Marti!


Students in ninth grade were able to do Pre-Registration today where they learned about class offerings for next year and think about what they want to take. Registration for next year is coming soon!
