Spring concert

This school year has been full of amazing learning experiences, lots of special visitors and community connections, and so many chances for our students to share their talents and passions! Last week was especially memorable as we welcomed grandparents and special persons into our building for an afternoon of fun and held two performances for the spring concert.

The spring concert took place on Thursday, May 16 with both an afternoon and evening performance. Students have been hard at work all year with Ms. Gertz where they learned about singing, music theory, and got to spend time in our keyboard lab and playing instruments. The spring concert featured a variety of songs related to the beach, ocean, and being on the water. Fourth grade ended the concert with a fun song called, “Meet Me at the Fishin Hole”. What a great way to end the school year!

concertconcertAs part of our STEAM class Richard Ross, who is the grandparent of two of our students and the father of one of our paraprofessionals, brought in a solid ivory tusk that was found by a gravel company out of Currie, MN on May 7, 2024. He and his granddaughter Ellie Albrecht shared information about the unique find. The tusk is most likely from a Mastodon that lived 14,000 years ago. It is approximately three feet long and weighs 30 pounds. Students were very interested to see the tusk and hear about it. Later in the day they were able to show it to their Grandparent or special person.

We welcomed our Grandparents and Special Persons Day on Friday, May 17 to be able to join us in the afternoon for a treat, photo opportunities, and a tour of our school. Visitors were able to connect with teachers, explore the music room and gym, and take their guests by the STEAM room to view the tusk that they had learned about earlier in the day. Our students were so excited to be able to share their school experience with the important people in their lives. They opened up the time with their special persons by singing a song called Mis Abuelos (My Grandparents).
